Future Diffractive Structure Function Measurements at HERA
The purposes and possibilities of future diffractive structure function measurements at HERA are presented. A review of the current range and accuracy of the measurement of F D(3) 2 (β, xIP , Q ) is presented and an estimate of the precision of future measurements is given. A feasibility study is performed on the measurement of the structure functions F D(4) 2 (β, xIP , Q , t), F 2 charm , R , ...
متن کاملQCD fits to ZEUS and fixed target structure function data
Preliminary results are presented on the gluon density at low x obtained from a QCD analysis of ZEUS 1994 F 2 structure function data combined with those from NMC. Also given are estimates of the experimental error on the e + p NC Born cross section at large x and Q 2. This estimate is obtained from propagation of the statistical and systematic errors on fixed target structure functions.

Measurements of diffractive structure functions in ep collisions and diffractive parton densities extracted from QCD fits are presented. At the HERA ep collider the diffractive quark structure of the proton is probed with a point-like photon (Fig. 1). The virtuality of the pho-2 β X Figure 1. Diffractive ep scattering. ton is denoted by Q 2 and sets the hard scale of the interaction. Diffractio...
متن کاملStructure Function Measurements at HERA and Perturbative QCD
New results from the H1 and ZEUS collaborations on the measurement of cross-sections at very high Q (up to 25000 GeV) and on the proton structure function F2(x,Q ) for momentum transfers squared Q ≥ 1.5 GeV and Bjorken x ≥ 3.5·10 are reported, using data collected at HERA mainly in 1994. No deviations from the Standard Model have been observed at high Q and F2 is seen to increase significantly ...
متن کاملThe structure of the proton and NLO QCD fits
HERA has provided a wealth of high precision structure function and jet production data, allowing considerable progress to be made in understanding the structure of the proton. In this paper, several of the most recent proton structure results from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA are presented. These include results from NLO QCD fits, neutral current deep inelastic scattering and jet pro...
